The Evening Thread - A Film by Iris Moore
Iris is a visual artist who lives and works in Victoria, Canada.
I’ve used Iris’s beautiful film with many groups of learners, either specifically to explore the subject grief and loss, or to prompt discussion about the power of film in medical education.
Her film is made using stop motion with paper cut outs, pressed flowers, thread, and wood, and was inspired by a single quote.
Iris said ‘When my dad was dying of a glioblastoma brain tumour, a friend said to me “he is preparing his wings.” I found this image to be so poignant and inspiring and so helpful in reframing the situation. I simply had to make it into a film.’
You can watch and share the film on this link, and see the other art Iris has created.
